Turnkey Irrigation Projects Terrain-adapted Irrigation in an Apple orchard
A 52-hectare apple orchard in Ukraine was equipped with a complete drip irrigation system, from design to commissioning, using pressure-compensated Vardit driplines. The project ensures precise water delivery to every tree, optimizing root-zone moisture while minimizing water, fertilizer, and labor costs.
Challenge
Establishing uniform irrigation across a newly planted 52-hectare apple orchard required addressing elevation changes, ensuring consistent moisture in the root zone, and delivering a solution that would reduce long-term input costs while protecting the sensitive early growth stages of the trees.
Resolution
Metzer had provided a complete irrigation system, including detailed design, supply, and installation of main and sub-main distribution lines, as well as filtration and control systems. The project utilized multi-year pressure-compensated Vardit driplines to guarantee uniform water distribution, regardless of changes in terrain elevation. Commissioning and system startup were carried out on-site, laying the groundwork for healthy orchard growth and efficient resource utilization.
