Turnkey Irrigation Projects Fully Automated Blueberry irrigation system
A 50-hectare open-field blueberry project in Kazakhstan’s Almaty region, completed in June 2022, was delivered as a full turnkey installation. The project included civil works, advanced irrigation infrastructure, and a fully integrated automation platform—setting a new benchmark for precision agriculture in the region.
How We Made It Happen
Challenge
Developing a high-spec, open-field blueberry plantation in the Almaty region required overcoming complex logistics, civil engineering demands, and advanced system integration. The project included the installation of steel water reservoirs, a pumping house, and a complete automation solution—all while managing the layout and placement of thousands of blueberry pots across the field.
Resolution
Metzer completed a full turnkey delivery, including construction, installation, and system integration. A surface drip system was installed using white-coated 20mm pipe with 2.0 l/h GALI emitters, positioned above the pots. Water was delivered via a pumping station, filtered through automatic disc filters and managed by a centralized automation system featuring remote control, fertigation units and climate sensors. Water tanks and a dedicated pump house were also constructed, enabling precise, efficient operation across the entire plantation.
