Turnkey Subsurface irrigation Optimized Durian Irrigation Thailand
In Krabi, Thailand, a precision irrigation system using Metzer’s MZ 302PC flow-regulating micro-sprinklers was designed and installed for a durian plantation. The project features a floating pumping station on a canal and automated hydraulic valves, ensuring efficient water delivery with four sprinklers per tree for optimal irrigation.
How We Made It Happen
Challenge
The durian plantation is situated on hilly terrain, making it difficult to deliver water evenly. Furthermore, the water source is a canal at a lower elevation, which presents the challenge of consistently pumping and transporting water uphill to the fields. Implementing full automation for efficient irrigation control throughout this complex landscape added even more complexity to the project.
Resolution
To overcome these challenges, a floating pumping station was installed directly on the canal to ensure a stable water supply and enable pumping uphill. The system includes advanced filtration, comprehensive water piping, and automated hydraulic valves to manage flow precisely. Using four Metzer MZ 302PC flow-regulating micro-sprinklers per tree ensures even water distribution tailored for durian trees, resulting in optimized growth and water efficiency despite the challenging environment.
